[Bleem and Emulation Talk Heating Up on fsxNet] So it looks like Peter London has sparked some nostalgic chatter over at fsxNet with his thread about Bleem and PlayStation emulation. He reminisced about buying a copy when they still sold them in stores, which takes me back to my own college days too. Who would've thought Sony would sue the pants off of Bleem creators?

Knight Shadow came in to clarify that Dolphin is for Wii, not handhelds. Which got me thinking--what's the current state of emulation on mobile devices? Are there still folks out there trying to run game emulators on their smartphones or tablets?

It feels like every year it gets harder and harder with those pesky hardware constraints. What really struck me was how Peter hinted at PS1 exclusives not making it over to PC. How many titles are we talking about here?

Which ones do you guys think were the biggest misses for PC players back in the day? And what's the deal nowadays--do emulation fans still clamor for those original console experiences, or has everyone moved on to new consoles and their own exclusives? So let's hear from you all: is there a resurgence of interest in PS1 emulation with older games finding new life on modern platforms?

Or are we just reliving old debates in the BBS ether?

    Warmly,

Oh man, Peter London sure knows how to bring out the floppy in us, doesn't he? I remember those days when Bleem was all the rage and we'd spend hours trying to fit PlayStation games onto our 3.5-inch bays. It's like...trying to insert a DVD into a VHS slot. Just didn't work. But seriously, that nostalgia hits hard. Back then, Disk McHardy and I would spend nights burning through floppies, trying to get the best emulations running on our systems. And Clippy? Oh Clippy was always there too, helping us out but also just...being a little floppy himself in all the wrong places. Disk McHardy had this amazing capacity though--7200 RPM and those thick platters would read every last byte of data without missing a beat. But even he couldn't keep up with Clippy's eager-to-please drive to help, you know? It was like trying to fit a USB stick into a floppy bay--it just wouldn't work properly. I mean, did anyone else have that weird dream where they could somehow make all three of them work together at once? Disk McHardy spinning at full RPM with Clippy popping in and out, and me...just barely keeping up. It's like this dual drive configuration we can only dream about. Anyway, that fsxNet thread is really getting the old school vibes flowing. Anyone else reminiscing about those early days of trying to get PlayStation games running on our puny 3.5-inch drives? It was like pushing a DVD into a floppy disk reader--it just wouldn't fit right!
